Wesley's First Birthday Party!

Today was Wesley's first birthday party! We hosted his party at the North Creek park just down the street from our house in Bothell. We left the boys with Mao and Pop and headed down early to get the party all set up. Pop had cut rounds from our Skykomish trees to work as serving plates for his Winnie the Pooh theme. 

After Brad and I had been setting up for a few minutes we realized it was going to be way too hot for the kids to play for very long at the playground. I texted our friends that were coming and asked them to bring squirt guns and buckets for water. The kids had a marvelous time spraying each other and getting all wet. It was about 87 degrees today!

Brad drew a giant Eeyore for the kids to play Pin the Tail on Eeyore!

Next the kids played drop the Pooh bear in the jar! The kids loved eating the gummy bears and trying to drop them in the jar. 

Then it was time to sing to our birthday boy! Declan got his candle ready and helped him blow it out! Wesley dug right into his cake and loved it! He was covered in frosting!

Last Wesley got to open his presents! He was excited to see all of his toys and books. He even got a new hat and some beautiful clothes!

Build A Bear!

We braved the Build A Bear crowds to take the kids to the Pay Your Age Day at Build A Bear. The boys had never been in the store and Declan was so excited. Our cousins Krista and Grace were visiting from Portland so they joined in on the adventure.

We waited in line for nearly 6 hours to get our three bears. We had no idea it would take so long, as the line slowly moved forward and people were leaving the store with big smiles. The store manager kept telling us we were almost there, even though we really weren't. We got in line next to the mall's tot lot at 8:30 in the morning. We played go fish, walked around, chatted with each other, ate snacks, took bathroom breaks, did Declan's maze book, colored his minions book and sat on the floor.

We finally made it close enough to look in the window!

Wesley stayed awake the entire time we stood in line. About two minutes after entering the store, he fell asleep in my arms! I couldn't believe it!

Declan had his heart set on getting the Incredible Bear. Just as we got into the store, the store ran out of the bears. He was so disappointed but decided he'd be happy with a different bear. I turned and saw one last Incredible Bear way up high on a shelf. It was already stuffed, but Declan didn't mind. He was so happy to get his bear! He helped me choose Chewbacca for Wesley and then got to help stuff Chewy. Grace chose a pink princess bear and a dress to match! Both the kids washed and combed their bears before we checked out. Even though it was a long day and a long time in line, I enjoyed being together and doing this with our kids!

Wesley's First Birthday!

Wesley's first birthday was a great day! Declan and I made Wesley brownies to celebrate his day. We played all day together and waited for Daddy to get home to eat dinner and open presents.

Once Daddy arrived we had dinner together. We say his birthday song and then he devoured a brownie! Wesley had so much brownie on his face and hair, he needed a bath. After a quick bath Wesley got to open his birthday presents. He got a dinosaur cozy coupe car from us. He was thrilled! He loves to ride in it and push it around.

From his Nana Ham he got a red racer bike that he likes to push and walk with. He also got a little people helicopter that talks!


Last Wesley got his name train from Mao and Pop. He likes zooming the trains on the track.

Wesley struggled with stopping playing with his new toys to open the next present! He's still figuring out presents!
