Welcome Buggy!

Sunday afternoon just after two, Brad and I were enjoying the shade on our deck while Declan took a nap. He had actually sneaked into our room and was sound asleep in there. Brad suggested we should start getting to ready to go out to dinner for our 6th  anniversary. We had decided to have dinner at Arnie's for one last night as a family of three.  I was closing my eyes and starting to drift off when I had a contraction. The next thing I knew, I was having another and another, about 5 minutes apart, with zero warning. I called labor and delivery and was told to stay home for a bit longer. Right after I got off the phone, Brad called Mao and Pop to come get Declan because my contractions were about 3 minutes apart and I said we have to go now! I was screaming and yelling and pretty sure the neighbors thought Brad and Declan were torturing me.

Once the grandparents arrived we jumped in the car and dashed down I5 screaming and yelling and cursing the entire way. Once we arrived at labor and delivery we were taken right into the delivery room and found out I was already 8 cm dilated. Thankfully I was able to get an epidural for pain management and was able to explain the extra leg support I'd need in order to make this happen. We had two very experienced nurses who were awesome and helped me push baby out rather quickly. Once the doctors were called in, his head was mostly out and it took just a couple more pushes and baby arrived.

He was very quiet at first and hardly moved. We quickly got him to make a noise and then waited in the labor room to be moved downstairs.

This was a much different and easier delivery from Declan's. I didn't have the support for my left leg that I needed during Declan's delivery and consequently was in a ton of pain from trying to tweak my leg in the correct direction.

After the delivery has been an easier recovery too, other than all the nurses asking for baby's name! Our first night in the hospital we were awakened every half hour to be checked and have vitals taken. We had decided to sleep on his name and make a decision in the morning. We were up early and decided on the name Wesley Glen (for my Papa). Declan still insists his name is Buggy, so we call him that as well.

It was delightful to wake up on July 10th with no nausea for the first time in nearly 10 months. Wesley latched on and started eating right away. We had lots of doctors and consultants in and out our first day. We also had special visitors.

Declan came to meet his brother with Mao and Papa. He was so delighted to meet Wesley and couldn't contain his excitement! He even sang to him!

Auntie Amanda came to see us as well, and got to witness Declan's joy.

Jessica, Sydney and her sister Melissa came to visit us next. Sydney kept us well entertained!

Our nurse came in mid afternoon and told us we had to stay another night. Since Wesley came so quickly, I didn't get the full dose of antibiotic for GBS before Wes was born. It was just a precaution, but we were a little sad to have to stay longer.

Wes was then given his first bath and shortly after we were ordered outside for a walk since our nurse could tell we were going stir crazy.

After our walk, we ordered a pizza and then prepared for our evening visitors. Koby and Aileen came by next and we were delighted to see them.

Next Uncle Scott, Auntie Kristine, Bennett and Elias came by. Elias was so smart and brought us mint oreos! Yum!

We were able to sleep a little Monday night since we only had to be checked every hour or so.

Tuesday morning we sat around waiting to be released, then headed to see his pediatrician, Dr Chilcote. We finally made it home late afternoon. Brad picked up Declan for swimming while Wesley and I stayed home. Declan got home and was so excited to snuggle his brother! He could barely tell us about his exciting day with Mao, Paula and Dan for joy of seeing his brother!
